January 2009

Begins the New Year

In case you haven't heard, it's now 2009. You have to love the way that time just sneaks up on you from behind and throws the onion bag over your head. I'm not even sure where 2008 went, just poof and it's 2009. We ended the year with a bang. Spent over a week in FL with our parents celebrating Christmas and enjoying the warm weather. I'm still a little foggy on why we stay in New England...only real good reason I can come up with is our parents. Of course, like all good vacations, they must come to and end.

Now that we are home, it's time to start wrapping up as much of the wedding planning as we can. Not that we have a lot left to do, the florist and Tuxes. Sometime next month we get to pick out our food which will allow us to mail out the invitations. Next thing I know I will be sitting on the beach at St. Lucia drinking something with an umbrella while talking to my wife. Kinda a scary though, not the getting married, but what it signifies. I'm that much closer to really having to grow up. I think until you pop out a child, you don't really need to FULLY grow up...once that happens though...time to take charge. Either way, it's going to be a very exciting year.

Here comes the bride...

Boulder Outdoor Survival School - Here we come!

With great joy, Jon and I have become goal buddies. I've been wanting to go to BOSS for sometime but it's kinda expensive, well only $2000 for 14 days. I mentioned it to him and he's decided that he'll join me. So we've set some ground rules:

  1. We each open a savings account specifically for this trip.
  2. We must prove to each other that we are putting $100 a month into said account.
  3. If for some reason we could not put in the $100, we must give a valid reason and a plan to make up for it
  4. Per his comment: Jon makes all the rules
  5. If in doubt, see rule #4.
  6. Only life changing / major reasons can be used to cancel the trip, with the 7 days course being a fall back solution.
  7. If either person hits the lottery for an amount in excess of $1 million before taxes, he pays for both people. Flight and BOSS Fees Only
  8. Both of us reserve the right to opt out of this by January 11th, 2009 at no penalty. Starting January 12nd, 2009, if we're both in, we're both in.

It's official, we are both in!

I'm sure that we will add a couple more rules, but it at least looks like we'll be going to BOSS sometime mid-2011.

WOOHOO!

Goals are dreams with deadlines.

My Political Compass

Jon sent me a link that asks some questions and then gives you your political compass. Here's the link.

Here's my results:
Economic Left/Right: -1.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.54

I'm not sure why I posted this, maybe if I was into politics I would have a clue what it means. Anyone care to translate?

Update 1/26/09: Laura took the quiz yesterday and actually got the exact same score for the Social Libertarian/Authoritarian area...however she was farther left than I was by over double. Again, anyone want to explain this??

Duh

In the 11 years since England enacted some of the world's strictest gun-control laws, gun crime there has doubled. No surprise. - Source

Laura's New Window Decal

I saw this image and I thought I would share it. Dad made a comment to Laura one time that he thought she tailgated too much. Which is ironic because Dad is one scary friggin driver. So, maybe if I got Laura this decal it would be ok when she did tailgate because she's really getting close enough to they can read it. :) She would be actually providing a service to the drivers in front of her.

The ideas in the above message about tailgating are not the views of the author but of his father. The author believes his fiancée is a very safe driver. ;)

Hellloooo Honeymoon

Lots of wedding planning going on at the moment. In 221 days, we'll be getting married. Sounds like it's far away, until you realize it's only 31 weeks and 4 days away. There isn't a whole lot left to do luckily. We got a call from our travel agent yesterday about another promotion they were running and we ended up saving another $600 dollars which is fantastic. During the last promotion we were able to bump up our room from a standard room to a Penthouse Oceanfront Concierge Room for way less than it would have cost. All I have to say is Woohoo! Sandals looks like they've got all the bases covered, from the food to the drinks to the water sports...which I might add are all included into the cost. They also offer a bunch of off resort trips into the jungle and hiking around the volcano, they are extra money but how often do you get to zipline through the jungle and then climb a volcano? Old Photos and More

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that Mom has been going through her old photos and started scanning them into her computer. I've upload most of them into the Landry's Place gallery. I suggest you all head on over and check them out, especially my three wonderful sisters. :)

Oh, and just so you don't forget, 221 days until the Wedding!

Love,
Adam and Laura

Gotta love technology...

Welcome to the era when you can buy a digital video camera and have your own picture printed directly onto it. Pretty frickin amazing if you ask me. Check them out.

Don't ask me about quality and all that, I think for the average human, this is prolly more than enough camera. Price wise, I don't know how it compares. I'm too hung up on the picture printing part. Damn gimmicks!
